Consists of correspondence of James Alexander Rogers with Leonidas Polk, James L. Mayfield, B.R. Freeman, and A.M. Rafter, relating to the construction of Fort Pillow and efforts to requisition slave labor for the construction work. Also includes correspondence between the donor, Robert C. Mainfort, and Mrs. Oscar W. Burnett in reference to acquisition of the papers.
